Juvenile Giant Sea Bass (aka Black Sea Bass) with Giant Kelp.

A highly protected species in California, this specimen came from Mexican waters where their population is healthier.

I rarely work with color but felt this one to be appropriate. A bluegill in spawning colors. Created by applying colored acrylic paint directly to the fish.

The chef at Vero, a fine dining experience connected to the luxury hotel Ca’di Dio in Venice, Italy, gave us a small octopus to work with in our suite room. I had asked for one so that I could create a thank you gift for the general manager for his hospitality. Four were created, one has been gifted.
